Business and Administration
Business and administration offers a variety of career pathways such as project management, HR, business support or management.
Information, Technology and Digital
Imagine making a difference as the keeper of the council’s valuable data, computer systems, and networks, responsible for ensuring that they operate efficiently and smoothly. You have the power to maintain the hardware and software that keep the council functioning.
Civil Engineering
This is a branch of engineering that focuses on the construction, design and maintenance of infrastructure projects. These projects can range from roads, bridges, water management, and even transportation management schemes.
Agriculture and Environmental
Maintaining and protecting our local environment and heritage on multiple horticultural sites.
Finance and Accounting
This is an integral part of the council, ensuring we manage our budgets and spending efficiently and effectively.
Construction and The Built Environment
Construction and the built environment apprenticeships offer a pathway for individuals seeking to enter and advance in the construction industry. This can range from gathering and processing geographic data to provide professional advice relating to land, property, construction or infrastructure including design, building, and management.
Earn and learn
Apprenticeships are a great way to earn and learn, where you can build your knowledge and skills through on the job training.
How long does it take?
Each apprenticeship takes between one and five years to complete. You will earn a wage and learn job-specific skills by working alongside experienced employees and your allocated mentor.
Additional learning
There will also be additional learning with your training provider, all offering different delivery routes. Your apprenticeship could be work based learning only, day or block release or residential training at their location. Either way, you will be supported throughout your apprenticeship from workplace colleagues and your provider. Our apprentices are ambitious and we encourage them to find opportunities outside of their courses to learn new skills and knowledge. For example, apprentices in our IT teams are encouraged to join Microsoft’s apprentice masterclass training, where they learn a range of technical and soft skills to help advance their careers.
Travel expenses
If your training provider location is outside of the local area, we will cover the cost of your travel expenses and accommodation, where applicable.
Nationally recognised qualification
Once you have completed your apprenticeship with us, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification and potentially the offer of a full-time job.
